Vintage Set of 2 Peter Rabbit Children's Teacups by Wedgwood China of England

A Lovely set of Two Teacups from the Child's Tea Set Featuring Peter Rabbit. NOTE: This is NOT a cmplete set--just two teacups.

Description: The teacups feature original illustrations from Beatrix Potter's classic Peter Rabbit nursery tales. Two Peter Rabbits are featured on each cup--one on each side.

NOTE ON PHOTOS: The last photo shows a matching teacup and saucer set for sale by a replacement china company--this set only features two teacups--no saucers.

The set was produced by the Wedgewood porcelain company of England. Josiah Wedgwood founded the Wedgewood china and porcelain company in Staffordshire, England in 1759. In 1986, Wedgewood merged with Waterford Crystal to become Waterford Wedgwood of Ireland. The manufacturer's mark seen on the back of these plates and cups was used by Wedgwood, starting in 1940. In 1974, the tiny circled "R" (seen on these items) was added to indicate that the name Wedgwood is a registered trade mark. Wegewood had an extended business relationship with Peter Rabbit and his creator, Beatrix Potter, manufacturing Peter Rabbit porcelain pieces since 1949.

Size: Each cup is almost 1-3/4 inches high x almost 2 inches in diameter x 2-3/4 inches wide (including the handle).

Markings: Located on bottom ofeach cup & printed in black. "WEDGWOOD" of ETRURIA & BARLASTON". "MADE IN ENGLAND". "Copyright Frederick Warne & Co", (the famous British publisher of the Beatrix Potter children's books).

Condition: Excellent/LIKE NEW/NEVER USED. No chips, cracks, stains or scratches, very clean inside and out. The color is very vibrant.
