Beautiful Vintage Bark Cloth Curtain Set of Two Panels in Vibrant Sweet William Botanical Print.
Rod Pocket Style: Off white cotton fabric. Curtain rod size pocket: can be enlarged by adding new pocket seam but is currently about 1 inch.
Colors are bright and lush featuring light, medium and dark rose, gray, lemon yellow, blue violet/grape, three shades of green on an off-white background. The flowers are outlined with dark brown brush strokes.
Size: Length approximately 47" long. Width: 44.5" wide.
Condition:
Bark Cloth: Very Good with no holes, rips, tears. A few areas of yellowing which is not visible unless viewed very closely.
Sewing/Construction: These curtains have been carefully machine stitched with hand sewn satin rod pocket on top of each panel. A second satin panel has been added to the bottom for extra weight. One side of each curtain has been turned in and stitched with white thread with a hem of just under 1.5 inches (very well done). The other side of each curtain was left with unhemmed with the finished factory edge.
These panels have been carefully washed inside a garment wear with unscented eco-friendly detergent and line dried in air conditioning.
The selvage edge says "Guaranteed to be Vat Printed" which refers to the fact that all of the yarns used in the weaving or screen printing came from the same dye batch (vat dyed) and ensures there is no variation in the color throughout the yardage on that bolt.
Vintage American Barkcloth fabric was printed in the 1940s to 1960s. Barkcloth fabric is heavy cotton with a nubby surface texture. With the lining fabric you can expect almost complete sun blockage.
If you need additional photos they can be provided. The curtains will ship in a box, enclosed in new plastic bag with Silica Gel desiccant packets.
Condition: Very Good: some yellowing of base fabric, but printed floral color is very bright. Satin rod case has some small openings where stitching has opened, but can be easily repaired.
